Growing up. Just a list.
Some recent events in my life made me realize that I needed to post this wisdom, for the help of many people. I hope you find some wisdom in this, much the way I did.
1. Stop placing all the blame on other people for how they interact with you. To an extent, people treat you the way you want to be treated. A lot of social behavior is cause and effect. Take responsibility for (accept) the fact that you are the only constant variable in your equation.
2. Stop being lazy by being constantly “busy.” It’s easy to be busy. It justifies never having enough time to clean, cook for yourself, go out with friends, meet new people. Realize that every time you give in to your ‘busyness,’ it’s you who’s making the decision, not the demands of your job.
3. Stop seeking out distractions. You will always be able to find them.
4. Stop trying to get away with work that’s “good enough.” People notice when “good enough” is how you approach your job. Usually these people will be the same who have the power to promote you, offer you a health insurance plan, and give you more money. They will take your approach into consideration when thinking about you for a raise.
5. Stop allowing yourself to be so comfortable all the time. Coming up with a list of reasons to procrastinate risky, innovative decisions offers more short-term gratification than not procrastinating. But when you stop procrastinating to make a drastic change, your list of reasons to procrastinate becomes a list of ideas about how to better navigate the risk you’re taking.
6. Stop identifying yourself as a cliche and start treating yourself as an individual. Constantly checking your life against a prewritten narrative or story of how things “should” be is a bought-into way of life. It’s sort of like renting your identity. It isn’t you. You are more nuanced than the narrative you try to fit yourself into, more complex than the story that “should” be happening.
7. Stop expecting people to be better than they were in high school — learn how to deal with it instead. Just because you’re out of high school doesn’t mean you’re out of high school. There will always be people in your life who want what you have, are threatened by who you are, and will ridicule you for doing something that threatens how they see their position in the world.
8. Stop being stingy. If you really care about something, spend your money on it. There is often a notion that you are saving for something. Either clarify what that thing is or start spending your money on things that are important to you. Spend money on road trips. Spend money on healthy food. Spend money on opportunities. Spend money on things you’ll keep.
9. Stop treating errands as burdens. Instead, use them as time to focus on doing one thing, and doing it right. Errands and chores are essentially rote tasks that allow you time to think. They function to get you away from your phone, the internet, and other distractions. Focus and attention span are difficult things to maintain when you’re focused and attentive on X amount of things at any given moment.
10. Stop blaming yourself for being human. You’re fine. Having a little anxiety is fine. Being scared is fine. Your secrets are fine. You’re well-meaning. You’re intelligent. You’re blowing it out of proportion. You’re fine.
11. Stop ignoring the fact that other people have unique perspectives and positions. Start approaching people more thoughtfully. People will appreciate you for deliberately trying to conceive their own perspective and position in the world. It not only creates a basis for empathy and respect, it also primes people to be more open and generous with you.
12. Stop seeking approval so hard. Approach people with the belief that you’re a good person. It’s normal to want the people around you to like you. But it becomes a self-imposed burden when almost all your behavior toward certain people is designed to constantly reassure you of their approval.
13. Stop considering the same things you’ve always done as the only options there are. It’s unlikely that one of the things you’ll regret when you’re older is not having consumed enough beer in your 20s, or not having bought enough $5 lattes, or not having gone out to brunch enough times, or not having spent enough time on the internet. Fear of missing out is a real, toxic thing. You’ve figured out drinking and going out. You’ve experimented enough. You’ve gotten your fill of internet memes. Figure something else out.
14. Stop rejecting the potential to feel pain. Suffering is a universal constant for sentient beings. It is not unnatural to suffer. Being in a constant state of suffering is bad. But it is often hard to appreciate happiness when there’s nothing to compare it to. Rejecting the potential to suffer is unsustainable and unrealistic.
15. Stop approaching adverse situations with anger and frustration. You will always deal with people who want things that seem counter to your interests. There will always be people who threaten to prevent you from getting what you want by trying to get what they want. This is naturally frustrating. Realize that the person you’re dealing with is in the same position as you — by seeking out your own interests, you threaten to thwart theirs. It isn’t personal — you’re both just focused on getting different things that happen to seem mutually exclusive. Approach situations like these with reason. Be calm. Don’t start off mad, it’ll only make things more tense.
16. Stop meeting anger with anger. People will make you mad. Your reaction to this might be to try and make them mad. This is something of a first-order reaction. That is, it isn’t very thoughtful — it may be the first thing you’re inclined to do. Try to suppress this reaction. Be thoughtful. Imagine your response said aloud before you say it. If you don’t have to respond immediately, don’t.
17. Stop agreeing to do things that you know you’ll never actually do. It doesn’t help anyone. To a certain extent, it’s a social norm to be granted a ‘free pass’ when you don’t do something for someone that you said you were going to do. People notice when you don’t follow through, though, especially if it’s above 50% of the time.
18. Stop ‘buying’ things you know you’ll throw away. Invest in friendships that aren’t parasitic. Spend your time on things that aren’t distractions. Put your stock in fleeting opportunity. Focus on the important.
19. Stop being afraid.

RFID Chips in Health Care
I've had some people ask me about the "Obama" health care bill, and it's connection to the rumor that it would require all citizens of the US to have RFID chips planted in their bodies.
I'm going to make this as simple as possible, without going too far into the science or the outside religious implications too far.
Number 1 - NO, it's not going to happen.
Number 2 - Why NO? - Because:
A. This has been a rumor ever since microchips were invented.
B. This rumor started back as far as Clinton, by GOP and anti-Clinton/Democrat propagandists and spin doctors.
C. The picture that may have been put up on your Facebook, was more than likely just a glucose monitoring system that can be put into your body, so people could stop pricking themselves every few hours. Ask a diabetes sufferer about how much fun that is. This device would allow an RFID chip to monitor blood sugars, while a monitoring device that would pick up the data via radio waves, not needles - to allow you to time insulin injections properly.
D. This also plays off the fundamentalist idea of Revelations 13: 16-18
Which to most "God fearing" Christian citizens in the US sounds right up the apocalyptic highway, in the form of a revelation. Once again, playing off of peoples fears in hopes of herding them in the direction of there thoughts, political pursuits, or candidates. If that isn't enough for the Bible thumpers, I will say there is no mention in any way of the number 666 in RFID chips. Maybe if the number of the beast was 011010010110010001101001011011110111010001110011 then, we would have discussion here.
E. If someone starts trying to play the "Well, here are the pages and the page numbers of the Obama Health Care bill, were it clearly states that we will have to have these chips..." - it's not true.
The bill they are showing, and pages mentioned were from an early house bill HR3200 - and nothing even close to the current health care bill that became law. Second of all, nothing in those pages said anything about chips being placed in people. It was about creating a registry for the Health and Human Services Division for implants or medical devices inside or used, by a person. So the medical field could collect better data on health problems effecting different areas of the US, and how to better treat them.
AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST:
F. Hell no, that would be too damned expensive to implant that kind of a device in every single US citizen. That would be even more ridiculous to think that anyone would allow that to happen in our country. Could you imagine the revolt? Does anyone remember what the Occupy Wall Street people were standing for, or against for that matter? Now imagine what would happen when the government decides that they are going to break the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? (because that would infringe on more than one of our rights as citizens) Yeah, that wouldn't happen without a fight. Plus that would violate a number of peoples religious beliefs. I know of many religions that don't allow the adornment of bodies in anyway.
So in conclusion, folks - don't worry your pretty little heads about this conspiracy theory, there are actual real ones out there that are more obvious, and less far-fetched than turning our country 100% Orwellian.

16 He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, 17 and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. 18 Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666. |

Wow, if you're a female - and Republican...
You have a very tough decision to make. Your body, or your morals. The GOP in 2012 will make you decide this: *(but that's not all...it get's worse)
http://thinkprogress.org/election/2012/08/22/723241/gop-approves-most-conservative-platform-in-modern-history/?mobile=nc%2FCOLOR
A week from the 2012 Republican National Convention, Republican committee members spent Tuesday articulating and affirming the principles they stand for in a draft of the official party platform. Led by Gov. Bob McDonnell (R-VA) and featuring other Tea Party stars like Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach and Rep. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), the committee approved a draft of the platform McDonnell said “will reflect the heart and soul of the Republican Party” and one committee member called “the most conservative platform in modern history.”
Here are some highlights:
NO ABORTION IN CASES OF RAPE OR INCEST. The proposal for a “human life amendment” passed without a hitch — and without any exceptions for rape or incest. The committee didn’t stop there; they also adopted language that would ban drugs that end pregnancy after conception, which could potentially include Plan B, the “morning after pill.”
SALUTE TO MANDATORY ULTRASOUNDS. The GOP officially praises states’ “informed consent” laws that force women to undergo unnecessary procedures, require waiting periods and endure other measures meant to discourage them from getting an abortion. One such law receiving a “salute” was crafted by committee head McDonnell, who passed a notorious mandatory ultrasound requirement after he signed an unsuccessful bill to require an even more invasive transvaginal probe ultrasound during an abortion consultation.
NO LEGAL RECOGNITION OF SAME-SEX COUPLES. The committee embraced extreme anti-gay language, even rejecting a proposal to endorse civil unions for gay couples after vehement objections from Tony Perkins of the Family Research Council and Romney adviser Jim Bopp, who called it a “counterfeit marriage.” The rejection of civil unions, along with the refusal to include a line affirming the legal equality of same-sex couples prompted the organization GOProud to declare, “Those who have engaged in this public platform fight have provided distraction from important issues and damaged Mitt Romney’s campaign.”
REPLICATE ARIZONA-STYLE IMMIGRATION LAWS. Kris Kobach, who wrote the now mostly invalidated immigration laws in Arizona and Alabama, pushed for language calling for a border fence, a national E-Verify system to make it harder for undocumented workers to find employment, the end of in-state tuition for illegal immigrants and an end to sanctuary cities. The committee overwhelmingly approved the proposals, as well as a line chastising the Department of Justice to halt the lawsuits against draconian immigration laws in Arizona, Alabama, South Carolina and Utah: “State efforts to reduce illegal immigration must be encouraged, not attacked.”
AUDIT THE FED. The pet project of Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) to audit the Federal Reserve has now been embraced as an official Republican goal. For the first time, the platform calls for an annual audit of the Federal Reserve.
NO WOMEN IN COMBAT. The platform condemns “social experimentation” in the military, which covers everything from the repeal of “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell” to allowing officers to wear their uniforms in gay pride events to letting women serve on the front lines.
NO STATEHOOD, MORE GUNS FOR WASHINGTON DC. FRC’s Perkins, who recently blamed President Obama and the Southern Poverty Law Center for the shooting at FRC’s Washington headquarters, requested and received a section specifically urging the DC Council to expand gun rights. The same section also opposes DC statehood, which would allow the District to govern itself and put an end to Congressional attempts to impose abortion bans on DC.
NO NEW TAXES, EXCEPT FOR WAR. The platform calls for a Constitutional amendment requiring a super-majority to approve any tax increase, “with exceptions for only war and national emergencies.” It would also deliberately hobble future Congresses through a cap limiting all government spending to historical average percentage of GDP — “so that future Congresses cannot balance the budget by raising taxes.”
I still can't wait for the Democrats to release their platform. I'm sure there are some "REALLY?!?" moments in there too.
Now for those that don't know, the GOP platform is the flag that Romney will be flying over his election process this November. More importantly, it's what the majority of our Republican Congress truly feels. These are the people we pay to protect our interests in government, and to protect us from oppression from the big giant that is US Government.
But this is the group that makes laws, passes them, and controls our country. Not the president. I will make another post later about the things the President can, and can't do. But this is just a scratch on the surface of the stuff they are willing to do to this country, and wave in your face. Like "Ha, you're an idiot, I know more than you; see what I can do to you - and you don't care?" Just imagine what they are doing to us outside of that line of sight? People don't believe in conspiracy theories on the whole, and that's understandable.
But we all know that one asshole that did something behind our backs, that we "in our most divisive moment" would never do. What's to make you think that people who have the power, and the will; won't? Maybe not blow up the World Trade Center, but how about jacking up their own paychecks, or passing laws that make the rich - richer and the poor - poorer? How is that a far stretch from reality. The worst part is that there are people that say, "I know it happens, but it's the government - what can you do?" You can do a lot. You can vote for someone that isn't a bad person. Sure you have to know who that person is, yes you may have to read about it. But hell, you're reading this. You should read up some about the representative of your district, or the Senators in your state. You might learn something, be a bit more informed, and come out with just enough knowledge to be the guy who keeps asshole "A" from becoming Congressman "A".

The post that started this:
Ok, so a Presidential Candidate went on record as saying he fully retired from Bain Capital in 1999. Today, 100's of pages of documents were released stating that in 2002, said nominee still had ties with the company. Come on. I was taught that lying was wrong. Ever since I was a child. Why is it okay for a grown man, who is trying to run for office allowed to do it? And people just say "well, that's what they do". Well quit voting them into office! Granted, Obama has done it, I'll just put that in so people don't get the wrong idea. But a turd sandwich over a douchebag is not a choice people. There are other parties other than Dem and Rep. I want my generation to make it happen.
Feel free to comment on it otherwise. Here is a source. http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/23/bain-documents-released-_n_1825231.html

And the horses are off!
Just a start to what will inevitably become a much heated source of discussion. Politics, Science, Technology, and possibly Religion if it makes it's way in. Are you aware yet's goal is to be a place for open debate on subjects; where someone can inquire for help in understanding a concept, or uprooting the truth from all viewpoints. (Thanks to Sam for that)
I am no expert. I do however read, watch, and listen. I have for many years, and my parents did their best to ensure that I was given the greatest gift a child could ever get, common sense. You don't have to be a doctor, lawyer, or professional of any sort to realize that sometimes life makes you say "REALLY?!?".
Today the hopes, dreams, and ideals of the United States has changed. At one time the American dream was a house, wife, 2 children, a two car garage, and white picket fence. (also known as the nuclear family)
It's no longer like this. Today we have people with 14 houses, 72 cars, and more mistresses than any Saudi Arabian Oil Sheikh ever wished for. We've lost our luster, our dream, and our vision of what a truly prosperous people should be. A vision for everyone.
Now it is a vision of corporate greed that will not be settled for any amount of money. We've handed our money, resources, and lives over to corporations and government, and we have to stop now. What's truly wrong with this country now is the covetous way we live our lives. Never being satisfied with good enough. It always has to be bigger, faster, and more. Or in the case of technology, smaller...But I digress.
I want this blog to be about the people. Everyone. Not special needs, or the upper crust. Everyone. Regardless of age, creed, life choice, or monetary standing. Everyone has a voice, and the only ones I've heard lately are the people with the biggest mouths, largest wallets, and smallest balls. It's time to make a difference, I'm only one person - but with enough people's help, eventually we can change this country back; As long as we try.
