RFID Chips in Health Care

I've had some people ask me about the "Obama" health care bill, and it's connection to the rumor that it would require all citizens of the US to have RFID chips planted in their bodies.

I'm going to make this as simple as possible, without going too far into the science or the outside religious implications too far.

Number 1 - NO, it's not going to happen.

Number 2 - Why NO? - Because:

A. This has been a rumor ever since microchips were invented.

B. This rumor started back as far as Clinton, by GOP and anti-Clinton/Democrat propagandists and spin doctors.

C. The picture that may have been put up on your Facebook, was more than likely just a glucose monitoring system that can be put into your body, so people could stop pricking themselves every few hours. Ask a diabetes sufferer about how much fun that is. This device would allow an RFID chip to monitor blood sugars, while a monitoring device that would pick up the data via radio waves, not needles - to allow you to time insulin injections properly.

D. This also plays off the fundamentalist idea of Revelations 13: 16-18

16   He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave,
to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads,
17  and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark

or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.
18  Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the

number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.

Which to most "God fearing" Christian citizens in the US sounds right up the apocalyptic highway, in the form of a revelation. Once again, playing off of peoples fears in hopes of herding them in the direction of there thoughts, political pursuits, or candidates. If that isn't enough for the Bible thumpers, I will say there is no mention in any way of the number 666 in RFID chips. Maybe if the number of the beast was 011010010110010001101001011011110111010001110011 then, we would have discussion here.

E. If someone starts trying to play the "Well, here are the pages and the page numbers of the Obama Health Care bill, were it clearly states that we will have to have these chips..." - it's not true.

The bill they are showing, and pages mentioned were from an early house bill HR3200 - and nothing even close to the current health care bill that became law. Second of all, nothing in those pages said anything about  chips being placed in people. It was about creating a registry for the Health and Human Services Division for implants or medical devices inside or used, by a person. So the medical field could collect better data on health problems effecting different areas of the US, and how to better treat them.

AND LAST BUT NOT LEAST:

F. Hell no, that would be too damned expensive to implant that kind of a device in every single US citizen. That would be even more ridiculous to think that anyone would allow that to happen in our country. Could you imagine the revolt? Does anyone remember what the Occupy Wall Street people were standing for, or against for that matter? Now imagine what would happen when the government decides that they are going to break the Constitution and the Bill of Rights? (because that would infringe on more than one of our rights as citizens) Yeah, that wouldn't happen without a fight. Plus that would violate a number of peoples religious beliefs. I know of many religions that don't allow the adornment of bodies in anyway.

So in conclusion, folks - don't worry your pretty little heads about this conspiracy theory, there are actual real ones out there that are more obvious, and less far-fetched than turning our country 100% Orwellian.
